Liberative Theologies

This cohort will offer an introduction to Indigenous Worldview, Womanist Theologies, Queer, and WOC centered theologies. More than an academic understanding, it will be an invitation to explore, be curious, and to reflect on what we know for ourselves. Most importantly it will be a space to reclaim and liberate theology and reimagine our own relationship with God-talk.

This cohort can be taken alone, but is created to be part 1 of a 2 part series. The second part is called Developing Your Social Justice Ethic and will be available Fall 2024. There is a discount for folks who take both.

CONTENT

Many of us are are aware of theologies that we no longer want to hold, but we haven’t had a lot of room to explore alternative readings of the Bible or liberative theologies.

We can still feel like theology belongs to people who go to seminary. But in reality, theology belongs to us all and can become a very life giving part of conversation with Creator.

In this seminar we will look at how different communties have let their own context and lived experience shape their god-talk. And explore how our own context, culture, and lived experience can shape our god-talk.

COST

$450 for Liberated Together Community Members

$550 General

You can make 1 or 2 payments. Some scholarships are available.

And since we weren’t able to do something for Black History Month in Liberated Together Community, all Black women/folks will get 50% off this cohort. Woo hoo!

TIME COMMITMENT

The cohort commitment includes the weekly zoom gatherings, regular posting in our online community space, and some reading and reflection each week. You should have at least 3 to 4 hours to give to the cohort each week. And you can only miss one gathering if you want to be in the cohort. The co-learning and communal exploration are an important part of the cohort space.
